Mrs Amy Maclean

Amy Maclean has worked in the NHS for over 10 years and has been working with George Dixon on various health projects from 2021. She enjoys working. at the intersection of young people, community, and health—designing practical opportunities that help pupils see themselves in futures they may never have imagined. Her NHS work brings together schools, volunteers, health professionals and local organisations to build pathways that are meaningful, inclusive and achievable for young people from all backgrounds.

She is especially passionate about opening doors for those who might otherwise be excluded from early exposure to healthcare careers—creating age-appropriate activities, supportive mentoring, and carefully mapped journeys that build confidence as well as skills. Amy is known for turning big ideas into workable systems: clear plans, thoughtful resources, and practical frameworks that make complex initiatives easy to deliver.

Originally from Chicago, Amy has lived in the UK for 26 years, and has had a varied career in finance, change management, education and running her own birth pool business with her husband. She brings a transatlantic perspective and hustle to her daily work. She has four teenage/grown sons. Outside work, she loves reading, singing, and taking part in improv workshops—activities that feed the creativity and curiosity she brings to everything she does.
