16 - 19 Study Programmes
Our 16 to 19 study programmes are designed to provide students with a structured and challenging learning programme that supports their development and progression in line with their career plans. We offer a combination of GCE (A Level) and Applied General (BTEC Level 3) qualifications and courses. The pathways undertaken in the sixth form are as follows:
- A Level only – students undertake study across a minimum of 3 A Levels.
- Applied General only – students undertake study in one specialist vocational course, equivalent in size to 3 A Levels, e.g. Health and Social Care.
- Applied General plus A Level – students undertake study in one specialist vocational course, equivalent in size to 2 A Levels plus a complimentary A Level qualification, e.g. BTEC Sport plus A Level Psychology.

In addition, all students aged 16 to 19 studying in the sixth form who do not hold at least a GCSE grade 4 in English and/or Maths are required to continue to study GCSE English and/or Maths as part of their study programme in each academic year, until such time that the grade 4 threshold is met.
