BTEC Level 1/2 Tech Award in Health and Social Care

Why study health & social care?

The BTEC Level 2 Health and Social Care is a 2 year course and it allows students to explore and study two roles within the health and social care sector.

WHAT WILL I STUDY? 

Students will study 3 components.

How will i study?

These components will be studied using a range of assessments methods such as completing assignments, exams and role plays.

 

Unit 1: Human Lifespan Development
  • Explore how individuals develop physically, emotionally, socially and intellectually over time.
  • Investigate how various factors, events and choices impact individuals’ growth and development.
  • Discover how people adapt to life events and cope with making changes.
Unit 2: Health and Social Care Services and Values
  • Explore how individuals develop physically, emotionally, socially and intellectually over time.
  • Investigate how various factors, events and choices impact individuals’ growth and development.
  • Discover how people adapt to life events and cope with making changes.
Unit 3: Health and Wellbeing (Exam)
  • learn what ‘being healthy’ means to different people
  • explore the different factors that might influence health and wellbeing
  • identify key health indicators and how to interpret them
  • assess an individual’s health using what they’ve learned.
  • create a health and wellbeing improvement plan for that person, which includes targets and recommendations of support services available
  • reflect on the potential challenges the person may face when putting the plan into action.

 

Career Opportunities

After completing the course it gives students a very wide-ranging route and opportunities into progressing onto doing the level 3 BTEC in Health and Social Care or other BTEC courses.
